Out Now: Zwischen Zeilen und Zeiten. Buchhandel und Verlage 1825 bis 2025

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the ‘Stock Exchange Association of the German Book Trade’, an essay collection on important events from 1825 to 2025 has been published. It contains 5 contributions from our PI Svenja Hagenhoff.

200 Years of Book Trade, Knowledge Transfer and Cultural Industries

The aim of the Association’s “rather unconventional anniversary publication” is to open up the lively history of the book trade and publishing industry to a wide audience: In more than 200 short essays, almost 70 authors address topics as diverse as censorship and reading cycles, convalescent homes for booksellers, Gestapo raids, accounting finesse and pompous celebrations. But the essay collection also considers the multifaceted interrelations in the book community: the relationships between authors and publishers, booksellers and readers, free spirits, apparatchiks, diehards and visionaries.
