Out Now: “21st-Century Publishing”
Our PI Svenja Hagenhoff co-authored an article on 21st-century publishing in ‘Handbuch Verlag: Geschichte – Aufgaben – Perspektiven‘:
Publishing is a constant function of the media system that transforms intellectual content into usable objects and ensures their public accessibility. Digitization and the media cultures that have emerged with it have radically changed the role of publishing, as networked infrastructures introduce new structures and actors. The resulting dissolutions and differentiations of literary communication are not only generated by publishers, but also by individuals and through automated processes. These developments challenge traditional publishers to redefine their role.
