Workshop: “Unser Leben ist der Inhalt” – German-Language Fanzines

Our fellow Noran Omran organized together with Erika Thomalla of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich a workshop entitled “German-language Fanzines” in Berlin. In material-related analyses of the holdings of the Archive for Alternative Culture and the Archive of Youth Cultures, the workshop sought to explore both the aesthetic logic and political ambitions of fanzines as well as the diverse possibilities for their production, distribution and reception. In the process, the relationship between public and private, the – often pseudonymous – authorships of the writers and the constitutive role of the readers came into focus.
